22nd August Football Tips

It’s that time of the week again where we make some selections for the weekend’s football. Before we do that, let’s look back to last week’s tips and see how we did.

Backing Cardiff in the draw-no-bet market rather than outright win proved to be a good ploy as the Bluebirds stuttered to a 1-1 draw at Blackpool. Nice refund for us there! Our only loser was Millwall; they huffed and puffed but could not blow Carlisle’s house down, having 13 shots but not finding the back of the net. Notts County obliged though with a rather predictable hammering of Macclesfield, and VfB Stuttgart did their usual trick of giving a promoted side a beating. By far the best result of the day was Bristol City’s win though – but only because of the manner of their victory. This video will tell you everything you need to know! A profit of £14.50 to £10 stakes paid for a few beers.

So onto this week, and if we’re honest it all looks a bit uninspiring! We can probably find a few things worth backing though. Crewe are 5/6 to win at home to Hereford and that looks fair enough to us. The Daggers won at Gresty Road on the opening day but Crewe looked a decent side and they’ve won well since. Hereford on the other hand aren’t looking so clever and are yet to win. We’ll also take Calvin Zola at 7/4 to score at any time due to his recent run.

Staying in League 2, Bury are 4/6 to win at home at Grimsby. The Mariners have lost 3 times in 3 attempts and we’ll stay loyal to one of our pre-season picks, even though the Shakers lost at home on the opening day.

Dropping into the Conference and there are far too many short odds on offer in the match betting, but we can have some interest in crisis-club Chester’s visit to Luton. The Hatters are looking to bounce straight back up and have experience in the shape of Kevin Gallen up front. He’s 7/4 anytime goalscorer and that looks good to us.

Finally another one of our special obscure choices: Goias to win at Nautico at 7/5. Goias are on a good run this season whilst Nautico struggle towards the foot of the table. Be quick though, it kicks off in a couple of hours!
